Ventura, Channel Islands, and Point Mugu Harbors

If you like to check out harbors and ocean-going boats while enjoying marine breezes and island views, this Harbor to Harbor ride may be for you. This route is a riff on our Coast Route and provides an option for a short day ride to explore the Ventura to Port Hueneme area.

The Route

The entire route is quite flat and traffic is generally light. The riding in the City of Ventura is family friendly. The two roads with the most traffic are Harbor Boulevard (fast traffic; wide shoulder) and Channel Islands Boulevard (busy traffic; adequate shoulder). Ventura Road has a wide sidewalk that can be a good alternative if the roadway feels too busy for comfortable riding.

Customizable

Since this is an “out and back” ride, it's possible to customize the distance one rides by turning around at any point and heading back to the start.

Post Ride Amenities

There are a variety of food options at both Ventura and Channel islands Harbors. Ventura Harbor is also home to the Channel Islands National Park Visitor Center and Island Packers (boats to the offshore islands of the national park).
