Traveling car-free? Take the AMTRAK Pacific Surfliner from Los Angeles, Irvine, or San Diego to San Luis Obispo. SLO's RTA Bus #12 will get you to Morro Bay where you'll transfer to the 15N to San Simeon.

Camping

Stay the night? Make your camping reservation in advance – at San Simeon State Park or Morro Bay State Park.

Connect to San Simeon

In Morro Bay take the 15N to San Simeon/Hearst Castle. Take in a tour of the castle then ride south to San Simeon State Park to camp for the night.

See the seals

The Piedras Blancas elephant seal rookery is located 5 miles north of Hearst Castle in San Simeon. Come to see them and smell them. Whew!

How to get here by train

Coming from Los Angeles, San Diego? Take the AMTRAK Surfliner to SLO then transfer to the Coast Starlight. Sorry, the Paso Robles Station doesn't handle baggage nor bikes. Bring your folding bike onboard.

From Downtown SLO take Route 9N from Government Center, at Osos & Palm, to Paso Robles. Buses can accommodate up to 6 bikes each.
