Mesa Loop

The Boathouse

Want lunch at the beach? Try this easy, loop ride. You’ll be rewarded with gorgeous views and great food and beverage!

Start from the AMTRAK Station heading up State Street’s bike lanes. Turn left on Victoria Street and zigzag your way to the W. Anapamu bike/ped bridge over the 101 Fwy.

Once on the westside your route is well signed – you’re on the Crosstown Route. Ride through quiet westside neighborhoods as you make your way. Eventually you find Modoc Road which takes you past the La Cumbre Middle School – follow the wayfinding signs. At Las Positas you’ll turn left – be advised the left turn lane doesn’t always detect a bicycle; consider using the crosswalks to position yourself correctly.

It’s all downhill to The Boathouse on Hendry’s Beach. There’s lots of bike parking, a repair station and a pump. Refill your water bottle before you depart. After lunch explore the new observatory – stairs behind the restaurant take you to a beautiful lookout.

Come back with the easy climb up over the Mesa. No visit is complete without a stop at Lazy Acres grocery – pick up a snack then cruise down Shoreline Drive.
